MEET THE DIRECTORS

TODD BURRER
Director

Todd Burrer, a proud graduate of Texas Christian University with a degree in Music Education, began his career as the band director at Wunderlich Middle School in Klein ISD. While his journey later led him into the realm of public water utilities, Todd’s passion for music never stopped. Since 2014, Todd has served as the conductor of The Prevailing Winds and its sister organization, The Fellowship of the Swing, where he continues to conduct musicians of all ages.

 

Additionally, Todd finds joy in playing bass trombone in the TCU All-Star Alumni Jazz Band and the Curt Wilson Alumni Big Band. Outside of his musical endeavors, Todd cherishes spending quality time with his wife, Amy, their four children, and five grandchildren.

ADAM HASKET
Assistant Director

Adam Haskett went to Lamar University for Music Education where he studied under Dr. Scott Deppe.  In that time, along with participating in multiple ensembles, Adam was also able to publish multiple compositions for band through TRN publications. Adam has attended various conducting symposiums and workshops such as the Texas Tech Art of Conducting Workshop under Dr. Sarah McKoin and Michigan State Conducting Symposium under Dr. Kevin Sedatole,

 

After school, Adam followed a career passion in aviation and went on to earn his wings as a pilot. He has then settled into aviation management where he currently works as a flight operations manager.

REBECCA PFENNIG
Assistant Director

Rebecca Pfennig holds a Bachelor of Science in Music Education from the University of Mary and a Master of Education degree from the University of North Dakota. As a flutist, Mrs. Pfennig has performed with the Bismarck-Mandan (ND) Symphony Orchestra, the Greater Grand Forks (ND) Symphony Orchestra, and the Kansas City Flute Choir. While living in Okinawa, Japan, she performed with members of the III Marine Expeditionary Force Band. She has performed solo recitals in North Dakota and Japan and continues to perform regularly as a church musician in addition to being an active member of The Prevailing Winds. 

She has been a music educator for over 35 years, having taught private flute lessons and flute ensembles as well as general and instrumental music in North Dakota, Alaska, Kansas, Okinawa Japan, and Texas. She currently lives in Spring with her husband Todd and their three rescue dogs.

KYLE MAUNEL
Assistant Director

Kyle Manuel’s musical journey began in childhood, and flourished through his studies at Stephen F. Austin State University (SFA), where he earned a Bachelor’s in Music with a focus on education and studied trombone under Dr. Deb Scott. His collegiate experience was marked by performances with the Lumberjack Marching Band, the SFA Wind Ensemble, and SFA Swinging Axes Jazz Band. Following his passion for education, Kyle now inspires young minds as an elementary music teacher. 

 

Beyond teaching, he remains an active figure in the music community through his involvement with The Prevailing Winds, the Montgomery Community Band, The Fellowship of the Swing Jazz Band, and the Good Shepherd Church Orchestra.
